Raising Your Standards

How many things have you told yourself that you want to achieve but you just never seem to get close?

Assuming those things are things that YOU want to achieve, and not just something that society or others have led you to believe that you SHOULD achieve, what exactly is holding you back?

You've done everything right, you've worked on those limiting beliefs, you've set an achievable goal within a time frame, you've broken it down into manageable milestones and yet... for some reason you're just not taking action.

One of the key factors in why we don't take action towards our goals is that we aren't holding ourselves to the right standards.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" - Albert Einstein

Only when you decide to take control of your life and make your goals a MUST, accepting absolutely nothing less, will you see the results.

Do you think of yourself as the kind of person who has already achieved your goals? Whether that's a fit person, an organised person, a business owner... Or do you instead think of yourself as you are? As someone who is exactly where they are today, and may or may not ever make any real, lasting change?

The secret to achieving your goals is to act as if you're already there. You have to make decisions daily as if you already are that person you strive to be. Would a fit person oversleep then have to buy less than ideal food at work, feeling sluggish by the time they finish so that they don't even hit the gym, or if they do their performance is half-hearted? Or would a fit person prepare a nutritious meal to take to work the night before, getting up early to go for a run or hit the gym, before their day even started?

This same concept can be applied to absolutely any goal. Think about the person you want to be and start to structure your life and decisions as if you already ARE that person. Small shifts in action lead to a big change in our overall trajectory over time.

Take 10 minutes to think about how your day looks vs the day of the person you want to be, and make a plan to start being more like that person from today.

Have a great week,

Cheryl
