Taking Back The Day

Writer's picture: Cheryl FoxCheryl Fox

Have you ever got to the afternoon and felt like you’ve wasted the day?

The things you wanted to achieve are still on your list, there’s not enough time to get them all done and you feel overwhelmed. Whatever it is that got in your way, replaying how your day could have gone differently won’t change anything now, but the power to take control and turn your day around still lies with you.

"The power to change your life lies in the simplest of steps" - Steve Maraboli

This is a perfect opportunity to practice focusing on what you can control, and below is a free and simple exercise to help you to do this quickly and simply.

Get comfortable with a hot drink, some paper and a pen, and work backwards from bedtime thinking about how you’d like the rest of your day to go. Some questions to ask yourself are: - What would a good bedtime routine look like for you? - How are you going to nourish yourself this evening; physically, emotionally and spiritually? - Can you reasonably achieve a couple of small tasks from your original list?

- Is there anything on your list that doesn't actually need to be there? - How can you plan and prepare for a better day tomorrow? - What will it take for you to go to bed in the right mindset to get up tomorrow and start fresh?

Let me know in the comments how you’re going to make the most of your evening.
